Chinese inspired mahogany coffee table by Frits Henningsen

This Chinese inspired mahogany coffee table was executed by cabinetmaker Frits Henningsen (1889-1965) ca. in the 1930s.

The table top is decorated with unique tiles depicting Chinese Fenghuang birds also called the August rooster – a positive symbol of high virtue and grace. The tiles are handcoloured by painter and ceramist Jens Thirslund and executed at Herman August Kählers (HAK) pottery.

Exhibited: The present model was exhibited in ‘Industriforeningen’, Copenhagen in 1933. Stand 12.
