    This astonishing profiled Brazilian rosewood coffee/side table with underlying shelf by Danish master cabinetmaker Jacob Kjær (1896-1957) was designed ca. 1935. It was executed by master cabinetmaker Jacob Kjær, Denmark, approx. 1930-1940s.

    Teak table with contrasting birch details by Tove og Edvard Kindt-Larsen

    This coffee table was designed by Danish architects husband and wife Tove & Edvard Kindt-Larsen for the Swedish furniture manufacturer Säffle Möbelfabrik.

    It is made from solid teak. The table top has raised edges and decorative contrasting birch splines that are made visible at both ends of the table. This example was designed and executed approx. 1961. Table is stamped by maker. Literature: Mobilia 1961.

    Unique colourful coffee table with tiles by Johannes Aasbjerg Andersen

    This large colourful coffee table was designed by Johannes Aasbjerg Andersen (1921-2006) in the 1950s. It was executed by Aasbjerg & Ørtoft by special commission in 1965. The table has 24 decorative and unique handmade enamel tiles on top. And the tabletop frame is of solid Brazilian rosewood. The legs are black lacquered steel with solid Brazilian rosewood feet. One of the tiles on top is signed by hand and dated 1965. Aasbjerg & Ørtoft was founded by Johannes and his brother Harry Ørtoft after the Second World War. They were both cabinetmakers but Johannes furthermore the designer and salesman. They started out producing bespoke pieces in the wealthy areas just north of Copenhagen, and later on when business was growing they began exporting to Europe and the USA. The black and white catalogue photos from Danish luxury department store Illum Bolighus showcase the table together with chairs by Italian architect and designer Gio Ponti. H. 48 cm. (19") L. 162 cm.     The so-called Chinese mahogany coffee table. Executed by cabinetmaker Frits Henningsen ca. in the 1930s. On top it has inlaid unique tiles depicting a fruit basket with decorative flowers. The tiles are handcoloured by painter and ceramist Jens Thirslund and executed at Herman August Kählers (HAK) pottery. The present model was exhibited in ‘Industriforeningen’, Copenhagen in 1933. Stand 12.

    This square table by Danish multi-artist Bjørn Wiinblad (1918-2006) has a total of no less than 196 handpainted tiles on top. The tabletop frame is made from wenge and the legs are brass. It was designed and executed in 1960 for luxury department store Illums Bolighus. Bjørn Wiinblad was one of Danmark’s the most versatile and successful artist ever. He applied his creativity to ever so many materials - ceramics, glass, porcelain, paper, and when creating furniture often added precious woods and metals. The table is signed by Wiinblad and it has a plaque from Illums Bolighus under tabletop. H. 49 cm. (19,3") W. 73,5 (29”) x 73,5 (29”)

    This coffee table of Brazilian rosewood was designed and executed by cabinetmaker Frits Henningsen (1889-1965). It has a profiled edge and an apron.     This Chinese inspired mahogany coffee table was executed by cabinetmaker Frits Henningsen (1889-1965) ca. in the 1930s. The table top is decorated with unique tiles depicting Chinese Fenghuang birds also called the August rooster - a positive symbol of high virtue and grace. The tiles are handcoloured by painter and ceramist Jens Thirslund and executed at Herman August Kählers (HAK) pottery. Exhibited: The present model was exhibited in ‘Industriforeningen’, Copenhagen in 1933. Stand 12.

Legs are made in bronze. The table was made in the early 1960s for luxury department store Illum Bolighus. It has a plaque from Illum Bolighus under the tabletop. H. 49,5 cm. (19,5”) L. 94 cm.
